Stamping presses have specific strength, speed and accuracy to give a definite form to the metal. There are two types of metal stamping presses: mechanical and hydraulic. They are available in a wide range of power, size, stroke length and operating speed.

Stampings are gradually replacing other metal forming processes, like casting, forging, fabrication and processing. One reason for this is the very low cost of metal stamping. Dies for stamping cost less than those used in the forging and casting. With so much variety to choose from, what factors determine which plants to buy? After considering the soil, weather, sun/shade location factors, the choice is all about self- expression. 

No two gardens are alike, given the same set of plants. Colors are as revealing as the plants. A conservative gardener will opt for traditional plants. At times, you see the same plants, the same arrangements year after year. 

Aha!! Perhaps the gardener does not adapt to change too quickly. It may be lack of time, or change of physical health. 

Vibrant colors in the garden reflect a vibrant gardener. A garden bursting with colors is very attractive and pleasing to look at. It is inviting.

What about passion? They say red is a color of passion, of energy and courage. Add white to the reds, and the garden beckons the passer-by to take a look. Someone said this combination looks like a candy cane. 

My garden is overcome by burst of yellows and orange, not really by choice. Somehow, it gives out a golden glow as the blooms bask in the sun. It reflects my enthusiasm for life. Many of my plants are gifts from friends, treasures for my garden. Yellow flowers remind me of my mother. 

Purples and blues in the garden are colors of reflection, of peace and calm. Add white flowers to this and it invites a meditative mood. 

After colors, the arrangements of the plants reveal something of the person. I have a friend whose flowerbeds are symmetrical, weed less, picture- perfect, right out of a magazine. Indeed, this expresses her organized way of thinking and living. 

A gardener who loves to re-arrange the plants and loves to add new plants and ornaments shows an enthusiastic and energetic spirit, ready to welcome change, eager to experiment. 

What about an overgrown garden? Perhaps it reflects someone with scattered energies, at times, a full plate, or one who does not have the time or energy to tend the garden. It may well show one that starts with a burst of enthusiasm that wanes quickly after the planting is done. 

No matter how you plan your garden, it is a creative tool that allows you to express yourself. Gardening is therapeutic, physically, mentally and spiritually.

Here are some of the basic principles based on the information you have provided.

If it must hold 200 lbs, then it must displace an equal weight of water. Weigh your boat and add 200 lbs, then determine the volume of the boat's hull that will displace that same volume of water assuming 62.4 lbs/ft³.

You need to waterproof all seams with glue and duct tape.

Look for corregated cardboard which is much stronger than pressed board.

Look in the phone book for a company that makes packaging materials. If you call them and explain your project, they might give you a lreally arge piece of cardboard. This will help reduce the number of seams.

Handling cardboard -- you will find it easier and more fun if you keep in mind a few tips.

You can have strength and still keep your boat light if you laminate layers of cardboard. In fact, try placing one layer so that the corrugations run in one direction, then placing the second layer so that the corrugations run at a 90-degree angle to the first layer.

To fold cardboard across the corrugations, consider scoring the line of the fold with the butt end of your utility knife or other rounded edge of a tool.

Don't step on your cardboard! If you break the corrugations -- well, think about it.

To keep your cardboard dry, don't forget to seal the edges with caulk or silicone. If water gets into your corrugations, you can have great fun watching it get drawn through the corrugation just like in a drinking straw. That may be okay when you have time to do something about it, but if you see this happen in the middle of a race . . . !!

Here’s a bunch of other items to think about.

A flat bottom is recommended. A V-shaped bottom is likely to tip over unless the V is very gentle.

The lowest center of gravity is the most stable; kneeling or standing will cause you to tip over.

Longer boats go faster, but they are harder to turn.

Boats shorter than 10 feet are difficult to steer.

For height, allow about 18 inches for you to sit and paddle effectively without the edge of your boat blocking your arms.

For width, figure about 18 inches for a kayak, about 23-24 inches for a canoe. Figure about 30 inches maximum for 1 person, 48 inches for two people.

Paint all t he surfaces before gluing, caulk the edges, then glue (carpenter’s glue works great).

Avoid oil-based stains, caulk, and glue because the oil soaks into the cardboard, may never dry, and this weakens the cardboard.

Duct tape shrinks when it is painted.

Clear tape melts when it is painted.

Reinforced paper tape works well over caulked edges and seams.

Forget about “glue guns” because that type of glue melts on hot days.
